What made you choose UNE over other options?
UNE’s MSW program was offered through my current job with the State of Maine (DHHS) at a 30% tuition reduction and it’s close to work and home for me.
DID YOU KNOW ALL DHHS Employees working the Office of Child & Family Services or Office of Aging and Disability Services receive a 30% tuition reduction at UNE’s On Campus MSW Program? Learn more HERE
What drew you to the social work profession?
What drew me to social work was a desire to help children. After teaching pre-school and pre-kindergarten for 20 years, I needed a change and wanted to help children in a different capacity.
What area of social work are you most interested in?
My main interest in social work (and specifically in obtaining an MSW) is to broaden my skills and understanding and to bring that to the work I am currently doing with families in child protective services.
Do you know what you want to do when you graduate? or “How Do You Plan To Do Good?”
I want to bring my new social work knowledge back to Child Protective Services!
Online Student: Stephanie Reade

Why did you choose UNE?
UNE offers two placements. Many other programs only offered one. The flexibility of when to start the program. I also felt they offered a lot of great electives.
What drew you to the social work profession?
I truly feel the profession found me. My career path led me to social work.
What area of social work are you most interested in?
Clinical practice. I was able to get some macro experience during my first placement but I am still drawn to clinical work.
Do you plan to pursue any certificates? If so, which ones?
Do you know what you want to do when you graduate? or “How Do You Plan To Do Good?”
Continue working in hospice and do therapy part time. Eventually I would like to teach.
*Stephanie Reade is an online student who currently resides in Los Angeles, California
